Frequently Asked Questions

Regarding orders:

Q: When will my order ship?

A: Refer to the listing; the shipping timeline is always noted at the bottom. During weeks when nothing new is released I pack orders on Monday and ship them out on Tuesday. Orders placed before 9 am PST on Monday will be included in that week’s shipment, and any orders received after that cutoff will be shipped the following week. During print releases/shop updates the volume of prints is too great for me to process in one day, so then I state the expected shipping window in the listing.

Q: How do preorders work?

A: “Preorder” does not mean that there is an unlimited quantity! Either the prints have already been made and just need more time to dry, or they haven’t been made yet and I am limited by drying rack space. If a print is listed as a “preorder,” the shipment date will be included in the item description. If your order includes multiple items, everything will ship when the preorder is ready to go, so if you want to receive the non-preorder items sooner please order them separately.

Q: I live in Bellingham/Whatcom County, is there a local pickup option?

A: Unfortunately I am not able to offer local pickup at this time. I work from home and maintaining the privacy of my home is very important to me!

Q: Why is there no international shipping option (other than to Canada)?

A: I am a small maker, not a big company, and the reality is that I just do not want or need to operate on a global scale. My making capacity is very limited due to the handmade nature of my prints, and there is enough demand for my work in the US and Canada to exhaust my supply. I hate to disappoint the international admirers of my work, but this is what is best for me and the vast majority of my audience. Additionally, the extremely long travel times for international shipping increase the likelihood of the prints getting lost or damaged while in transit, creating a giant headache for everyone involved. I’m sure this policy change will disappoint some, but please respect this decision that I have come to.

Regarding print availability:

Q: The print I want is sold out, will it ever be back in stock?

A: If the print is in the “limited edition” category, then no! If it is not labeled as limited edition, I will eventually do a reprint edition. Because doing reprint editions takes away from creating new work, I usually only do 2 or 3 reprint editions of each print in a year! So if a print you had your eye on sold out recently, it probably won’t get restocked for a few months. The best way to know when something is getting restocked is to keep an eye out on my Instagram page! I will always give advanced warning and an exact date & time that a print will be available. You can also add yourself to the waitlist on the item’s page so that you get an email notification when a reprint edition is available.

Q: I like a certain print but is it available in different dimensions?

A: Nope! All of my prints are original block prints; they are printed from hand-carved blocks, so their size is fixed. I do not digitally reproduce my work, so there is no way to size my prints up or down.

Other questions:

Q: How should I frame a non-standard sized print?

A: If you haven’t noticed already, I do not get along with “standard” print sizes!! I don’t know who decided on standard sizes, but I would like to fight them. I tend to prefer making taller and narrower prints, and I think a lot of my customers agree that non-standard sizes are more aesthetically appealing! However, I do understand the challenge that poses when it comes to framing. That is why I ALWAYS list the print dimensions in the item description so that you know what you’re receiving! If you don’t know how to proceed with framing your print, here are my recommendations:

  1. Get it custom framed at your local frame shop, a chain like Joann’s or Michael’s, or from online custom framers like Framebridge or Frame It Easy.

  2. For a more inexpensive option, you can get a standard sized frame in the next size up and get a custom cut mat, or get a float frame (no mat).

  3. A great display option for non-standard sized prints is using poster rails! I have personally used and really like these poster rails from Parabo Press. They look really simple yet sharp, and they are a breeze to set up.

Q: Do you do custom work/commissions?

A: I do not do custom work for individuals, but I am open to collaborating with businesses/organizations. That being said, I am not currently interested in doing logos or branding work and I am very picky about the projects I take on. If you are a business/organization that is interested in collaborating, use the contact form below to give me some details about what you have in mind!

Please note that I am not a graphic designer- my wheelhouse is linoleum, carving tools, ink, and paper, not Illustrator or Photoshop! The end product that I create for collaborative projects is a physical block print on paper and/or a digital scan of said print.
